Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours - BBmedSc(Hons)

Prerequisites

Honours candidates must have previously completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBmedSc) degree, with an average B+ grade or higher in their 300 level courses.

Course Requirements

  • 30 points from BMSC 403 - 406*
  • 60 points from BMSC 430, 431, 432 and 433
  • BMSC 489 - research project

*15 point courses

Note: one or two BMSC courses may be substituted with other 400-level science courses, with approval from the Head of School. Courses in chemistry or microbiology are particularly suitable.


Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Science

Prerequisites

Candidates must have previously completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBmedSc) degree or equivalent Bachelor's degree.

Course Requirements

  • 120 points from BMSC 401 - 489, 580, including 30 points from BMSC 401-406

Master of  Biomedical Science (MBmedSc)

A Masters degree is normally completed in two calendar years. Part 1 (the first year) involves three courses of 30 points each and a research preparation course. Part 2 (the second year) is a full-time research project, leading to a thesis.

Prerequisites

Masters candidates should have previously completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBmedSc) degree with an average grade of B+ or higher in the relevant 300 level courses.

Course Requirements

Part 1

  • 2 courses from BMSC 403 - 406
  • 2 further courses from the schedule of courses for BBmedSc (Hons)
  • BMSC 580 - research preparation

Part 2

  • BMSC 591 – thesis

One or two BMSC courses may be substituted with other 400-level science courses, with approval from the Head of School. Courses in chemistry or microbiology are particularly suitable.

Prospective students must arrange a thesis topic with a supervisor before enrolment in the Masters programme.


PhD in Biomedical Science

The PhD is the highest degree offered in the Biomedical Science programme. It is a research degree culminating in a thesis and usually takes three to four years of full time study to complete.
