Research

The School of Social and Cultural Studies has an active culture of research and scholarship within and across its disciplines of Criminology, Cultural Anthropology, Social Policy, Social Science Research and Sociology. The quality of our staff research is recognised both nationally and internationally and informs the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in our subject areas.

Crime and Justice Research Centre (CJRC)

Associated with the Institute of Criminology, the Crime and Justice Research Centre at Victoria University is unique in New Zealand in its capacity to provide research and consultancy services on crime and criminal justice responses. The Centre concentrates on policy-focused research, often evaluative in nature and done under contract to government and public sector agencies. The Crime and Justice Research Centre also aims to increase knowledge and understanding of issues relating to crime and justice.
