School of Art History, Classics and Religious Studies

The School of Art History, Classics, Religious Studies and Museum and Heritage Studies has an active and productive research culture. Our academics and postgraduate students undertake research in a wide variety of areas. The research is often interdisciplinary in nature, as is appropriate for understanding the integrated nature of the cultural, historical, literary and religious traditions we study. Research also informs and guides our teaching in diverse ways.

Our staff have published widely and the quality of their research is recognised and respected nationally and internationally. Their expertise is often called upon by government agencies and the media, and by various organisations. For details on each staff member's research focus and lists of publications, please see our the Programme Research pages and the individual profiles of academic staff.

Each Programme in the School regularly host visiting academics who contribute to the research environment by presenting papers at conferences or seminars, giving guest lectures and teaching courses.

Our staff in turn are frequently invited to contribute to research gatherings overseas.

We value our postgraduate students, many of whom come from overseas to study at Victoria. They play a vital part in the life of the School, and they make a significant contribution to our research culture.
