Students from all over the world come to Robinson for their postgraduate study as part of our collaborative research programmes.

International postgraduate students find a warm welcome here. Some students come for two or three months to complete a practical project, while others choose to spend a year here on an exchange programme.

Meet some international student's from the Institute and learn about their research.

Hae-Jin Sung

As part of her PhD programme at Changwon National University in Korea, Hae-Jin Sung is spending a year working at Paihau—Robinson Research Institute.

Sebastian Hellmann

The six months that Sebastian Hellman spent as an intern with the Robinson team in 2008 was a component of his German electrical engineering diploma.

Wenjuan Song

Wenjuan Song, a visiting PhD candidate, has worked at the Institute on AC loss modelling and experiment since 2016.

International connections

Paihau—Robinson Research Institute is an international team. There are 11 different nationalities represented in our team of scientists and engineers—including Korean, Russian and German—and between us we speak 9 languages.

Fees

International PhD students pay the same fees as domestic students in New Zealand, which are approximately NZ $8000.

I knew nothing about flux pumps before I arrived, but they are very interesting and have a lot to do with my research. I'm enjoying being able to learn so much here.
