The World’s
Religions
This course introduces students to the major religious traditions, discussion of the interactions and relationships between them, and analysis of the role of religion in the world today.
Themes will include: religion after 9/11, religions and terrorism, globalisation and religion, religion and identity, religious experience, religion and the brain, the similarities and differences between religions, religion and science, pluralism and the future of religion. Each tradition will be introduced through a particular theme and the religious traditions explored in relationship to their histories, each other, and the context of the contemporary world.
