Areas of InterestDiscursive psychology and conversation analysis; feminist psychology; sex/gender and sexuality particularly sexual and reproductive health; language and social psychology particularly new communication technologies. My research lies within the general area of social psychology. I am particularly interested in language, talk-in-interaction and discourse I have a long interest in the field of gender and language. In the recent past I have used broadly discursive approach to data analysis. However, currently I am taking a more distinctively conversation analytic approach in my research. From October 2006 to December 2007 I was a visiting Professor in the Sociology Department at the University of California at Los Angeles where I was involved in developing conversation analytic studies of everyday spoken New Zealand English.
