Ethics Approval

The Ethical Approval process is designed to protect you as researcher, the participants in your research, and the university as a research institution as a whole.

Ethics Approval

If you intend collecting data using surveys, interviews, questionnaires and the like, you must obtain ethical approval before you begin.

The university's Human Ethics Policy (which also contains really useful sample 'Information to Participants' letters and 'Consent Forms'), is available here

The Human Ethics Committee application process takes up to 3 weeks. For a copy of the application form, click here.

To help you prepare your Ethics Approval application, it makes sense to attend the SLSS Postgraduate Seminars at the beginning of each trimester.
