Why study politics?A politics degree, whether focused on political relations within a single country or on relations among a wider group of people, aims to give you a head start in pursuing careers in government, media, the law, academia among many other fields. But our graduates work in a far wider range of fields than this, including the charitable sector and wide variety of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations. A politics degree can also be of great help to those hoping to pursue a political career, as well. Several graduates are currently MPs and, every year, students involved in the Parliamentary Internship scheme get an opportunity to experience the operation of government from within the halls of the Beehive. As our wide range of courses demonstrates, almost every aspect of our lives requires political activity of one sort or another. Whether your interest is health care, education, poverty, finance, or working standards for employees, an understanding of how political systems work and your place within them is a great life tool. No matter what your future goals are, understanding politics is a great way to pave the road towards your future success. |
