The Sir John Marshall Scholarship
The Scholarship was established by the Rt. Hon. Sir John Marshall, G.B.E.C.H.,
B.A., LL.M., Hon. LL.D. in 1980 to encourage the study of Politics.
- The Scholarship is be awarded annually to a full-time student (or
a part-time student not in paid employment) who is enrolled in 200 level
POLS courses and who is intending to major in Politics.
- The Scholarship is tenable for two years in the case of a full-time
student or two or more years in the case of a part-time student, provided
that the scholar continues to pursue a course of study leading to a
major in Politics.
- The Scholarship is awarded by the Academic Board to the student who
completed 100 level work in Politics in the year preceding the award
and is, in the opinion of the Chairperson of the Department of Politics,
the best student eligible for the Scholarship in the year of the award.
- The Academic Board may terminate the Scholarship at any time if the
scholar's progress is unsatisfactory or for the failure to comply with
the terms and conditions of the award.
- No award shall be made if in any year there is no candidate of sufficient
merit.
- The annual value of the Scholarship shall be $1,000 in the case of
a full-time student and at least $500 in the case of a part-time student.
- If in any year the income from the fund or any part thereof is not
expended it shall be added to the fund.
