The Korean Ambassador's Prize

This Prize was established by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to New Zealand in 2004, His Excellency, Mr Jung-seung Shin, to encourage research and scholarship on aspects of Korean politics and international relations.

  • The Prize shall be known as the Korean Ambassador's Prize.
  • Three prizes may be awarded annually: to the undergraduate student, the honours student, and the M.A. or PhD. student judged to be most worthy of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed an essay or a thesis on an aspect of Korean politics or international relations.
  • The Prize shall be awarded by the Academic Board on the recommendation of the Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in consultation with the academic staff and Head of Programme in Political Science and International Relations.
  • The names of the students awarded this prize shall be inscribed on the Honours Board at the premises of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations.

An honours board displaying the names of prize winning students is in the annex on the fifth floor of the Murphy Building, Kelburn Parade.
