The Sir Desmond Todd Memorial Prize

This prize was established to mark the centenary of the Todd family in New Zealand and in memory of Sir Desmond Todd. It is provided annually by members of the Todd family.

  • The Prize is awarded annually to the student judged to be most worth of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed a thesis in the Department of Politics for the Degree of M.A. or Ph.D.
  • No student may hold the award more than once.
  • No student who is a direct descendant of the late Sir Desmond and Lady Todd or the spouse of a direct descendant is eligible to be awarded the Prize.
  • The Prize shall be awarded by the Academic Board on the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Department of Politics in consultation with the academic staff of the School.
  • The value of the prize shall be $1000 or such sum as the Todd family shall decide, and shall consist of a book or books, or cash.

The names of the students awarded these prizes shall be inscribed on the Honours Board at the premises of the Political Science & International Relations Programme.
