Profile

I've been a lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington since July 2003. and Senior Lecturer since 2008. I’m originally from Washington, DC, but have been slowly moving west to Ohio State University where I completed my PhD in 2002, and then to teach at California State University from 2000 until 2003.

I am the co-editor of the American Society for Aesthetics Newsletter, and the Coordinator of Graduate Studies at Vic for Philosophy.

Research Areas

My main area of research is in philosophy of art. In 2006, I was awarded a Marsden Fast-Start Grant to work on a project about understanding collaboratively produced art with Deb Tollefsen (Univ of Memphis). My other research area is epistemology, particularly reliabilist theories of justification.

Current Teaching

I am teaching all or part of the following courses in 2008:
Philosophy 106 – Contemporary Ethical Issues
Philosophy 107 – Philosophy of Media and the Arts
Philosophy 270/370 – Philosophy of Film
