Celebrating te reo on campus

To celebrate 2015 Māori Language Week, the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Māori) and Te Kawa a Māui are running a competition to compile a list of 50 phrases in te reo for use on the Māori at Victoria website.

Staff and students are encouraged to record a short video saying their favourite phrase in te reo and to upload it to the University’s Facebook page or Twitter or Instagram, using #VicUniWgtnKīnga, and be in to win.

The top 50 phrases will be chosen by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Māori) and Te Kawa a Māui and will be recorded by a student for use on the Māori at Victoria website later in the year. They will also choose two winners who each receive a book-themed hamper.

It is hoped that the competition will promote use of te reo on campus and get both staff and students involved in celebrating 2015 Māori Language Week.

Kia kaha!
