Strong results in QS World University Rankings

Victoria University has achieved some strong results in the QS World University Rankings for 2014, with arts and humanities being ranked 60 equal in the world and the areas of social sciences and management being ranked 67 equal in the world.

Among New Zealand universities Victoria scored second in both faculty areas.

“These results are an impressive achievement for staff in the relevant faculties,” says Vice-Chancellor Professor Grant Guilford. “They confirm and convey the quality of learning and teaching that is offered at Victoria.”

Professor Guilford says the results also show Victoria is doing well in the areas of employer reputation, international faculty and students and academic reputation.

Overall, Victoria’s position, at 275 equal, is relatively stable and makes Victoria fourth of all New Zealand universities.

QS ranks the world’s top 863 universities out of a total of 3,000 which are considered. QS head of research Ben Sowter confirms that New Zealand’s overall performance in this year’s rankings shows stability.
