Kick starting students’ careers in Asia

For the second time, Victoria University plans to offer students an exciting summer study opportunity.

The seven week “Understanding Southeast Asia” paper will see students spend five weeks in Southeast Asia as part of a study tour, as well as two weeks in the classroom in November. They will visit Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar.

The trimester three paper gives students the opportunity to advance their intercultural understanding, experience people and cultures, build global connections and networks and learn about a region critical for New Zealand's future.

A group of 24–28 students will be selected and may apply for a scholarship funded by the New Zealand government and administered by Education New Zealand, which will cover the cost of the study tour component of the course.

At this stage, the programme is still subject to approval of funding from the New Zealand government. This includes all participants’ scholarships for the off-shore component of the course.

For more information including an application form and selection criteria, please see the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Field Trips and Study Tours page. Applications must be sent to the ip-team@vuw.ac.nz before 9am on Monday 20 October.
