Entry Deadline: Royal Society of New Zealand Science Book Prize

Date: 8 February 2013 Time: 5.00 pm

The Royal Society of New Zealand is now calling for submissions for the 2013 Science Book Prize.

This biennial award is open to all books published in 2011 and 2012 which communicate scientific concepts in an interesting and readable way. It aims to encourage the writing, publishing and reading of good and accessible popular science books.

The definition of ‘science book’ for this prize is a book about science that does not require a specialist knowledge of the subject, or of science in general, in order to be read, enjoyed and understood.

Popular science books written by New Zealand authors are eligible for entry, as are books of fiction, drama and poetry provided they have a strong science content.

The winning book will be announced at the 2013 Auckland Writers and Readers Festival in May 2013. The winning author(s) will receive a cash prize of $5,000.
