Liz Richardson

Liz was born in Fiji, of Fijian and Samoan descent. A University of Auckland science graduate, after which she spent thirteen years as a secondary school science teacher.

Liz established mentoring support programmes for Maori and Pacific students -'Te Putahi o te Manawa' at the University of Waikato in 1995, and 'Te Ropu Awhina Putaiao' and 'Te Ropu Awhina Waihanga Hoahoa' at Victoria University of Wellington in 1999.

Currently Liz holds the position of Deputy Dean (Equity), in the Faculties of Science and Architecture and Design at Victoria University, and Education Advisor to the Porirua Pacific Islands' Forum. Liz is also Chair of various university and community committees and reference groups focused on education and equity issues.
