We’ve got a range of learning spaces including a computer suite, library, teaching labs and other rooms you can use for group or individual study.
Computer Suite│Taiwhanga Rorohiko (VZ001)
- 23 networked computers offering commercial and in-house produced language software
- 1 networked printer (scanner, photocopier and 'Follow-me' printing)
- Round tables for private laptop use, wifi internet
- Green zone for group work
Self-access Library│Te Pātaka Reo (VZ007)
- Study place for quiet independent learning (blue zone, seats 27)
- Self-access library with dictionaries and grammar books, audio readers, books, magazines and multimedia periodicals in around 60 different languages
Quiet study space│Potu 'o mamanu 'o Sāmoa (VZ008)
- Study space for quiet independent learning with a Samoan flavour
- 8 networked PCs offering commercial and in-house produced language software
- Blue zone for quiet study
The Kiwiana room│Te Poukōrero o Aotearoa (VZ005)
- Warm, sunny room featuring wall display of New Zealand scenes and items
- 40" TV screen connected to an LLC computer (ask for a wireless keyboard and mouse at the LLC counter)
- A webcam is available from the LLC counter for video calls
- Table for 6 and a whiteboard
- Students can reserve this room via the Library's online booking system
The Marianne room│Salle de groupe Marianne (VZ006)
- A warm, sunny room dedicated to the symbolic figure representing liberty and the French republic
- 55" TV screen connected to an LLC computer (ask for a wireless keyboard and mouse at the LLC counter)
- A webcam is available from the LLC counter for video calls
- Table for 4 and a whiteboard
- Small round coffee table with 4 lounge chairs

The Map room│Rūma Tuhiwhenua (VZ010)
- Wall display features maps from around the world
- Round table for group work
- Plenty of chairs and a whiteboard

The Asian Prints room (VZ010A)
- A newly opened room with wall display featuring Japanese and Korean prints, and Chinese papercuttings
- Table and chairs for group work or conducting interviews

Teaching labs (VZ003 & VZ011)
Two fully-equipped computer classrooms are available within the Centre for the teaching of language classes with multimedia content and specialised technology. Access classroom booking information.
Both VZ003 and VZ011 contain:
- 20 student PC workstations
- Teacher/tutor PC workstation, plus data projector and DVD player
- Soloist: an extensive listening, recording and authoring software
- Virtuoso: teacher console to monitor students (video and audio)
- Classroom layout is a U shape against the wall with central tables for group work and teacher directed activities
- Echopanels for optimal sound quality
- VZ003 contains webcams for each PC allowing recording of video files for NZ Sign Language teaching, body language practice for any language, presentation practice, and Skype exchanges
