J.C. Beaglehole Room

This research reading room on Level 1 of the Central Library was established in 1970 to honor Professor John Cawte Beaglehole, and is your path to the Library's Special Materials Collections.

ARCHIVES e.g. the New Zealand Students' Arts Council PRINT CULTURES Collection e.g. Palm leaf 'Navakhanda Kammavaca' SPECIAL COLLECTIONS e.g. the Swiss Family Robinson collection RARE PRINT Collections e.g. specimens used for the Print History of Wellington Project

Most collections are held in storage for preservation and it is necessary to book requests at least one day in advance. Exceptions are those items with Fildes, Stout or Brancepeth callmarks, which may be retrieved on the same day as long as supervision of the reading room is not compromised.
