Guidelines for Contributors

Articles should be approximately 8,000 - 10,000 words long, and should represent original scholarship on an aspect of law. Cross-disciplinary material is welcome, but a strong law focus is required. Longer pieces of exceptional merit may also be published.

Articles should not have been published elsewhere prior to publication in the Victoria University of Wellington Law Review.

All references must be included.

Although it is not essential to submit articles which comply with the Victoria University of Wellington Law Review Style Guide (2007), authors whose articles are accepted will be asked to ensure their references meet the style guide requirements.

Articles are academically refereed. Authors are anonymised, to the very best of our ability, to ensure impartiality of the refereeing process. The referee also remains anonymous, but we send the referee's comments to the author, whether or not the article is accepted.

Authors retain copyright in their work published in the Victoria University of Wellington Law Review. However, we ask all our authors to sign a licence agreement allowing us to publish the information with online legal information providers, as well as in our standard hard copy issue.
