LAWS 213 Public Law

Public law is concerned with the powers and duties of government. This course examines the constitutional history and practice of New Zealand, concentrating on the development of core concepts and institutions. The key principles of administrative law, the Treaty of Waitangi, the Bill of Rights Act 1990, and the application of international law domestically are introduced. The course will go beyond constitutional theory to look at how New Zealand's system of government functions in practice.

Corequisite: LAWS 297
