2016 achievements
Caleb O'Fee received the 2016 Judge Les Atkins QC Memorial Prize in Evidence Law. This is the first year that this prize has been awarded.
Sally Fitzgerald LLB 1992 appointed a Judge of the High Court.
John Walker LLB 1975 appointed Principal Youth Court Judge.
Stephen Kós LLB(Hons) 1984 appointed President of the Court of Appeal.
David Bullock LLB(Hons)/BCA (2012) and Alexandra Sinclair BA/LLB(Hons) 2013 both won a Fulbright NZ award to study their Masters overseas.
Helen Cull LLB(Hons) 1978 appointed a Judge of the High Court.
Queens Birthday Honours
Catherine Quinn, LLB 1986 and Victoria Spackman, BA 1998, LLB 2001 were both made Officers of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM).
Phillippa Smith, BA 1979, LLB 1979, MPP 1996 was awarded the Queen’s Service Order (QSO), and Reverend John Drylie, LLB 1971 was awarded The Queen’s Service Medal (QSM).
Harriet Farquhar, LLB(Hons) 2016 was awarded prestigious medal for Academic Excellence.
Sarah Grimmer, LLB 1997 appointed Secretary General in Hong Kong.
David Bullock, LLB(Hons) 2012 won a prestigious William Georgetti Scholarship for 2016.
Dame Patsy Reddy, LLB 1976 and LLM(Hons) 1979 has been appointed the new Governor-General of New Zealand.
Roger Clark, LLB 1964, LLM 1967, LLD 1997, Hon LLD 2014 was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Una Jagose (LLM 1995) succeeded Michael Heron QC as Solicitor-General.

Terence Arnold, LLB(Hons) 1970, LLM 1972 was awarded the Knights Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (KNZM) for services to the judiciary.
Pamela Andrews , LLB 1983, was awarded the Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to the judiciary.
Alan MacKenzie, LLM(Hons) 1971, was awarded the Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to the judiciary.
John Te Manihera Chadwick, LLB 1971 was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to Māori and the law.
Conrad Smith, LLB(Hons) 2004 was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to rugby.
Rachel Emere Taulelei, LLB 1998 was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to the food and hospitality industry.
Leslie Herrick Atkins QC, LLB 1971, LLM 1977 was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (QSO) for services to the judiciary.
Heta Kenneth Hingston, LLB 1969 was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (QSO) for services to Māori and the judiciary.
