The New Zealand Dictionary Centre

The New Zealand Dictionary Centre was established in July 1997 by Victoria University of Wellington and Oxford University Press with the purposes of:

  • maintaining and developing a database of New Zealand English vocabulary
  • conducting research on various aspects of language in New Zealand
  • compiling and publishing dictionaries and related educational materials

It aims to provide a focal point nationally and internationally for New Zealand lexicography.

The New Zealand Dictionary Centre is a joint venture of Victoria University of Wellington and Oxford University Press, located within the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies
