VPN (Virtual Private Network)
What is VPN?
The VPN service allows Victoria staff to access electronic resources from off-campus as if their personally owned computer were connected directly to the Victoria network.
Such resources include access to email, stored files, web publishing and some externally provided web content.
To take advantage of VPN you will need an Internet connection with an Internet service provider (ISP).
To connect to VPN from off-campus, go to https://vpn.vuw.ac.nz and enter your staff username and password at the prompt.
The client is available for
Android (Samsung devices only at this stage)
Mac users may first need to allow downloads from third parties. To do this go to Apple > System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General and allow applcations downloaded from anywhere.
Windows 8 users will need to use Internet Explorer and not Firefox.
Note: When finished with the VPN session you need to actively disconnect the session.
