About Information Technology Services

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Victoria University of Wellington provides infrastructure, service and support for the majority of Victoria University's Information, Communication and Technology systems. This includes staff facilities for administration, teaching and research and student facilities for teaching and student access. ITS also houses and supports core applications for some central business units.

ITS is organised by groups which are made up from specialist teams. These include:

IT Procurement and Image Services

The Directorate provides strategic and management leadership on information services and systems to support learning, teaching and research for the University.

The Infrastructure and Services Group responsible for service relationship, delivery and support. This includes the service framework, all user support functions, all technology operational functions, the standard operating environment and all audio visual facilities, multimedia editing suites and videoconferencing facilities.

The Applications and Projects Group (APG) at Victoria University of Wellington has around 25 staff which is divided into 3 groups (Project Management, Technical Integration and Development / Database Administration). The APG supports ITS through the implementation of projects into the operational environment. We also work closely with other university support and academic groups in the implementation of all projects.

The Student and Academic Systems Group, reponsible for development and support of the University’s core student and academic focused applications.

The Enterprise Architecture and Security Group is responsible for systems architecture University-wide, as well as IT security and policy. The group works closely with all other groups within ITS including the Systems and Service Desk teams, and are involved in the majority of the projects active within ITS at any point in time. The Enterprise Architect also chairs the Enterprise Architecture and Policy committee, which is responsible for data and technology standards university-wide.

IT Procurement and Image Services is responsible for the procurement of all telephone and mobile devices, IT hardware and software and the University's imaging service.
