CONVICTION the movie is now in theatres

CONVICTION the movie is now in theatres. CONVICTION tells the true story of Kenny Waters, wrongly convicted of murder, who was supported by the Innocence Project, based in New York. IPNZ and the New York Innocence Project are members of the international organisation known as the Innocence Network. Hilary Swank plays Betty Anne Waters, the uneducated mother of two who fights for her brother, Kenny Waters (played by Sam Rockwell) who she believes to be wrongly convicted. CONVICTION is distributed in New Zealand by 20th Century Fox.

In February, IPNZ hosted a special preview of CONVICTION at Reading Cinema Courtenay Central. IPNZ would like to thank 20th Century Fox and Reading Cinemas for their support of this event.

Congratulations to Tom Huthwaite, IPNZ's First Student Volunteer!

IPNZ would like to congratulate Tom Huthwaite, IPNZ's first student volunteer, on his admission as a Barrister and Solicitor. Tom worked with IPNZ until 2010 and he conducted research with Maryanne Garry and Matthew Gerrie. He is now a practicing Barrister and Solicitor-Congratulations Tom and good luck for the future!

Conference Registration Deadline Fast Approaching

The Innocence Project Conference 2007 will be held 13th-15th December at Rutherford House at Victoria University’s Pipitea Campus. Spaces are limited and filling fast. Registration closes on 23rd November.

Public Lecture on Wrongful Conviction.

Matthew Gerrie will be speaking about Wrongful Conviction as part of Victoria's public lecture series on the 28th August at 6pm at Rutherford House. Free admission, no pre-enrollment necessary, all welcome. More information can be found at Victoria's Continuing Education website. More»
