Orientation is a unique opportunity to get to know other international students from around the world in a fun, relaxed setting without the stress of study. Get involved and make the most of it!
It is compulsory for new international students to attend both International Orientation and Enrolment. Unless you are a Foundation Studies, EPP or PhD student, or those special groups who come early in the year, you should plan to arrive in time for the Main International Student Orientation. The Main Orientation day includes presentations by Victoria International and other student services about the University’s academic and support services, cultural adjustment and information about Wellington and New Zealand. The schedule also includes an expo during lunch where you can learn more about what Victoria has to offer. In addition to the presentations, there will be campus tours, and other events to help you settle in and feel connected to the University.
The day following International Orientation is your enrolment day. You will attend an enrolment briefing organised by International Admissions to find out more about the enrolment procedures and processes for your programme of study. Then you will follow the process with International Admissions, your Faculty and Enrolment team to complete your enrolment. It is important you keep the enrolment day free to allow enough time to complete your enrolment process.
In February the university-wide orientation for all new students to the University, known as New Students Orientation, follows the Main International Student Orientation. The University-wide orientation is optional for international students, however we recommend that you attend New Students Orientation as an opportunity to learn more about the University and your studies, as well as to meet other students.
Orientation times and venues for 2013 are to be confirmed.
