Overview

Courses in European Studies provide students with a unique insight into aspects of the society, institutions, culture and languages of Europe. European Studies in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) gives students an excellent appreciation and understanding of the development of contemporary Europe and the way in which this process manifested itself.

Undergraduate Information

BA Major Requirements
  1. EURO 101, EURO 301*
  2. 40 points from European language courses (French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Spanish) at an appropriate level for the student, taking into account any prior knowledge
  3. 60 further points from FREN, GERM, GREE, ITAL, LATI, SPAN or approved courses at 200/300 level with significant European content, at least 20 points of which must be at 300 level

*Please note: EURO 301 is not offered in 2013.

Approved 200-/300-level courses that will be allowed to count towards the European Studies major include:

200-level courses

300-level courses

*The asterisked FILM courses (Film Cultures, National Cinema, and Auteur Study) will be approved when the relevant national cinema or auteur is European.
