Introduction
The Victoria University of Wellington academic year is divided into three trimesters:
- First trimester (1/3): March - June
- Second trimester (2/3): July - October (exams continue into November)
- Third or summer trimester (3/3): November - February

Please note: Teacher Education programmes have different trimester dates from the rest of the University. See the Faculty of Education website for specific details of Teacher Education dates and deadlines.
Many postgraduate programmes have different application closing dates. These are arranged by faculty. For a full list of these go to the Postgraduate Enrolment - Faculty Closing Dates page.
A Calendar (prospectus) for Victoria University of Wellington is produced yearly and contains Key Dates, Officers and Staff, Statutes and General Provisions, Courses of Study, and General Information. Calendars from 2001 onwards are available online, as is the Course Catalogue.
