Victoria University is committed to developing a strong research culture that generates new knowledge with a major social, economic or scholarly impact.
In 2010 a number of policies and practices were implemented to boost PhD enrolments. Victoria also gained large amounts of new external research funding. A number of staff and students received national and international awards and fellowships to further their research.
Our research institutes and centres play a significant role in our graduate teaching and research programmes, including the Antarctic Research Institute and the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology in partnership with the University of Canterbury.
We offer continually developing graduate programmes and access to the latest thinking across a wide range of fields.
PhD students play an important role in research at Victoria. The Faculty of Graduate Research focuses on ensuring that PhD students have a positive experience and promotes the quality of the PhD across the University.
