Research

Victoria University of Wellington is one of New Zealand's top research institutions. Our researchers collaborate with people from government agencies, business, and major scientific and cultural institutions in Wellington and around the world.

Our research strengths are broad - and range from biotechnology, earth sciences and nuclear magnetic resonance to Māori knowledge, linguistics and law. Our PhD students are at the heart of our research culture and we offer a range of scholarships to help fund their work. We also have specialist staff available to help access funding from within the university and from external funding agencies.

We are committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and their implementation in research which is by Māori, for Māori, involves Māori or is relevant to Māori.
