Luminescence Dating FacilityWelcomeWe're the specialists for scientific age determination of various materials. Our research and services are mainly used by Geologists, Geographers and Archaeologists. We apply the so called Luminescence Dating Technique, a method which is based on the accumulation of electrons in imperfections in a minerals crystal lattice, caused by exposure to environmental radiation. Exposure to heat or sunlight clears the radiation signal and starts the clock counting, which will be read in our laboratory. Today Luminescence is a routine technique for dating of aeolian, fluvial and lacustrine sediments, and for determining the age of manufacture of ancient ceramics as well. The technique is applicable in an age range from about a hundred years to several hundred thousand years. You're invited to have a closer look at our laboratory, you may want to learn more about the physics behind the method or perhaps you want us to support your own scientific project by dating your samples. Please take a few minutes and surf through our pages. All inquiries welcome: Dr. Uwe Rieser | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
