Writers and Readers Week 2012

Date: 9–14 March 2012 Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: Downtown Wellington

Victoria University is proud to be the principal partner of Writers and Readers Week, a highlight of the upcoming 2012 New Zealand International Arts Festival. The University has a long history of contributing to the arts, and of dynamic partnerships with Wellington‘s creative community. It is also a real source of pride for us that so many of the local writers participating in this event are associated with Victoria‘s highly regarded International Institute of Modern Letters and that many of them have seen their skills nurtured through its teaching programme.

Victoria University graduates Eleanor Catton, Hamish Clayton, Craig Cliff, Tina Makereti and Elizabeth Knox are all part of this year‘s Writers and Readers Week events. Victoria staff members contributing include Professor Bill Manhire, Professor Harry Ricketts, Dr Marco Sonzogni, Associate Professor Jane Stafford, Ken Duncum, Chris Price, Professor Lydia Wevers and Fergus Barrowman, as well as Bernard Beckett, the 2012 Writer in Residence at Victoria University.

During Writers and Readers Week, our students too will have the opportunity to hear from, and engage with, talented authors from New Zealand and around the world, adding to the many benefits of studying in the nation‘s capital.
