Discussing Supervision @ Vic

Here at Victoria, the Faculty of Graduate Research would like to establish a community of practice around supervision. This community would comprise staff who are interested in discussing postgraduate supervision in order to equip themselves with lessons learned from others and the best supervisory resources available. We anticipate that this group would meet for 1.5–2 hours once every two months and would move around the four campuses.

Actively participating in this group would also:

  • Give you preferential access to visiting experts in higher education, through special member-only events
  • Help to shape a blog on supervision produced by the FGR in response to the topics discussed at the supervision groups. Not only will you be contributing to an international resource for supervisors, you’ll direct us to the resources that you need yourself.
  • Count as a “contribution to the research environment.” Because you’ll register to attend each session, you will be able to ask for a record of your attendance from the FGR when the next assessment period ends.
