Technical Support
Students can expect the following services from workshop model-making technicians:
- safety supervision of their activities and machinery use
- technical information about construction, materials and model-making
- technical support with 3D digital fabrication and CAD/CAM equipment
- some assistance with model-making projects including modest amounts of specialist or high risk machining.
Please note: During busy times, technical assistance will be limited and prioritised on a needs basis, and does not normally include training students or staff on CAD/CAM software associated with the digital fabrication equipment.
Lynda.com
The faculty of Architecture & Design have signed up to unlimited access to Lynda.com’s On-line Training Library (OTL). This is available to all students on campus connected into the staff or SOAD student computing environment. Not available off site or via wireless at this stage, but is planned for next year.
The Lynda.com OTL is a globally recognised resource for augmenting formal tutorials, and for empowering student’s learning and skills acquisition.
Students and staff must register, and then will have unlimited access to the OTL and associated training resources.
