Scholarships

There is a wide range of scholarships and awards available for students studying at Victoria at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

TeachNZ scholarships and allowances may be available for those studying to become secondary teachers in particular subjects. For further information to the the TeachNZ website at www.teachnz.govt.nz or phone 0800-832-246.

The Ministry of Education offers Study Awards, Fellowships, Study Support grants and Sabbaticals for early childhood, primary and secondary geachers, allowing you to pursue graduate or postgraduate tertiary study. Prizes and awards available within the Faculty of Education, include:

• The Beryl Hughes Prize in Gender and Women's Studies
  Awarded for the most outstanding undergraduate or honours essay presented in the area of Gender and Women’s Studies.
• The Katherine Pattison Memorial Award
  An award to assist a woman student in the Gender and Women’s Studies programme who is overcoming some disadvantage in pursuing their course of study.
• New Horizons for Women Trust (Inc)
  The Rita King Award for education and training assists women who did not obtain a qualification when younger. The value of the award is up to $2,000. Applications close 31 May. Contact: Secretary, New Horizons for Women Trust, P O Box 12498, Wellington.
