No, you must have ethics approval before beginning any part of your research.

I already have ethics approval but I need to make some amendments to my research – what should I do?

If the original application was made on paper, send an email to the ethics committee administrator detailing the amendments you wish to make. Be sure to include the reference of your original application. It is helpful to send your approved original application form and documents, indicating changes in a different colour or font.

If the original application was made online, and the application is approved, go to the online application, complete the Amendment/Extension page, and submit your request.

If you are a student, your supervisor must have approved the amendments you wish to make.
