Teacher Professional Development

For Primary and Secondary Schools

Victoria University provides support to schools under an agreement with the Ministry of Education, called the School Support Services Contract.

The Ministry of Education's priorities for School Support Services work in 2009 are:

  • The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
  • Strong learning foundation programmes in schools
  • Raising Māori student achievement, underpinned by Ka Hikitia - Managing for Success
  • Sucess in education for Pasifika students, underpinned by the Pasifika Education Plan
  • Participation, engagement and achievement of secondary students
  • Educational leadership for schools, underpinned by Kiwi Leadership for Principals.

With the funding from the School Support Services Contract, our main focus will be on a whole school cross- team approach to professional development undertaken over two years. A Memorandum of Agreement will be negotiated between each participating school and the College of Education.

Our advisers offer further support through short courses, clusters and to meet curriculum specific needs.
