Gender and Women's Studies

What is Gender and Women's Studies?

Gender and Women's Studies courses provide feminist critiques of society, particularly of the male-dominated assumptions about the way societies operate. Courses show the links between systems disadvantaging all women and those such as class and race structures that affect specific groups of women. Gender and Women's Studies has a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and endeavours to include Maori content on all courses.

Gender and Women's Studies is part of the School of Education Policy and Implementation.
