Profile
Prior to joining Victoria University in 2000, Kabini was the former Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education; the premier state tertiary institution in the country. Kabini has also held leadership positions in teacher education (Head of School), Ministry of Education (Chief Education Officer-Director) and secondary schools (as Principal and Deputy Principal) in Solomon Islands. He has been a consultant for Solomon Islands government and international aid agencies over a number of years.
Research Interests
Research interests are in leadership, educational policy, international education, development education, governance of higher education and indigenous research.
Current Research Projects
Book project, Rethinking Pacific Curriculum, with Professor Konai Thaman of The University of the South Pacific.
Book project on Indigenous Gula’alaa (Malaita, Solomon Islands) creative knowledge communication.
Book project on leadership, aimed at educational leaders within Pacific Islands countries who aspire to be more ethical and effective leaders.
A number of research projects on Solomon Islands relating to: indigenous knowledge, clan-based development, leadership and education.
