Luanna Meyer was founding Director of the Jessie Hetherington Centre for Educational Research and is currently Professor of Education. Previous academic appointments include positions at Massey University in New Zealand (as Assistant Vice-Chancellor-Academic and as Pro Vice-Chancellor Education), the University of Hawai’i, the University of Minnesota, and Syracuse University in the USA.
She leads major research projects on world-mindedness (international collaborative research on university student attitudes in several countries); the impact of motivation on secondary student achievement; and a large-scale evaluation of the implementation of culturally responsive practices in New Zealand secondary schools. She has authored/co-authored 11 books and more than 250 other publications, and has served as director of externally funded research contracts totaling $13mil U.S.
Areas of Interest
Major areas of interest include mixed method research designs; social science research and evaluation; intervention research with challenging behaviour; severe disabilities; educational assessment; children’s social interactions and relationships; and evidence-based policy and practices in higher education.
