About Our Programmes
The School of Design offer a wide range of postgraduate options, from a graduate diploma to Master’s and PhD qualifications across three specialisations - Culture+Context, Industrial and Media. These programmes are tailored to develop your understanding of users needs while anticipating how to meet these needs through the creation of successful products and innovative design solutions.
If you are looking for professional development we have a programme of study to suit your needs, our diploma option allows you to select courses based on your interests and needs in a range of design disciplines.
We have a Master of Design and a Master of Design Innovation which provide the necessary skills and knowledge base for entry into the professional industry. These degree options are an extension of our undergraduate qualifications and are taught in three distinctive disciplines – Culture+Context, Industrial and Media Design.
Our Master’s programmes take full advantage of the world-class facilities the campus has to offer, this enables students to realise every element of their designs, challenge theories and present products ready for the industry.
Each of our qualifications offer you the flexibility to tailor your programme of study to further develop your skills or consolidate the skill set you have already gained and use these to influence your contribution to the research arena.
Graduate Diploma in Design Innovation (GDipDI)
The GDipDI is a programme offered in three specialisations - Culture+Context, Industrial Design and Media Design. It is ideal for students and practitioners who hold a first degree in a design discipline and wish to add a further professional qualification. Your course of study is integrated with the Bachelor of Design Innovation (BDI).

Master of Design (MDes)
This Masters degree is a research based degree focused on structured independent investigation of topics centred in contemporary design.

Master of Design Innovation (MDI)
The Master of Design Innovation is a postgraduate extension of the Bachelor of Design Innovation. It offers students an expansion of their undergraduate specialisations that prepare graduates of the Masters to enter the design industry as a professional designer.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The PhD is the highest degree offered by the School of Design. It is completed by thesis only and is restricted to areas where appropriate supervision is available.
