Profile

Jim Rolfe has previously been an Associate Professor on the Faculty at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii, the Associate Director of the Master of International Relations Programme at Victoria University of Wellington, Deputy Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies: New Zealand and a Policy Adviser in the New Zealand Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.  Earlier he had a career in the New Zealand Army. Dr Rolfe’s most recent book is (as Editor) The Asia Pacific: A Region in Transition, and his major current research project relates to the ways the Asia-Pacific region is developing norms of cooperation and consequently developing new institutional relationships to support the norms. He has also maintained a close interest in New Zealand defence issues and he has recently had published through the Australian Strategic Policy Institute a major research paper Cutting their cloth: New Zealand's defence strategy.
