Jim VeitchPositionSenior Fellow ProfileJames (Jim) Veitch is Senior Lecturer, Security Studies at Massey Univeristy's Centre for Defence and Security Studies based at the Massey Wellington Campus. Jim specialises in the study of religious and political conflict, particularly in South East Asia and the Middle East. His interest in Iran and in Middle East politics dates from the 1980s when he was involved in helping coordinate and plan education tours to the Middle East. He spent some years living and teaching in Indonesia and Singapore and has taught courses on terrorism and counter terrorism since the mid 1990s. Jim was Associate Professor and the coordinator of the Intelligence and Security research program in the School of Government at Victoria University Wellington from 2006-2011. His research interests include:
Jim is a forum member of the New Zealand Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (CSCAP). From 2006-2008 he was the Non-ASEAN Co-Chair of the International Steering Committee of CSCAP. In 2009 he became a Fellow of the UK based Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) in recognition of his work in the study of terrorism and counter terrorism. Contactj.veitch@massey.ac.nz |
