2016 Regional Chinese Bridge Speech Competition

The “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Speech Competition (汉语桥) is intended to encourage more students to learn Chinese language and culture, and help students improve their Chinese speaking ability by competing with their peers in a friendly, fun environment, it is also a gateway to various Confucius Institute scholarships to study in China.

This year, the Regional Speech Competition will be held at two locations,

1. Western Heights High School, Rotorua (for the Senior Secondary group only) on Friday 13 May.

2. Kelburn Campus of Victoria University of Wellington on Saturday 14 May.

Senior Secondary students can choose to participate in either one of the above locations.

The Chinese Bridge Speech Competition is held at three levels, regional level in Wellington, national level in Auckland and international level in China. The winners of the National Competition for Senior Secondary and Tertiary group will represent New Zealand in the Final Speech Competition in China.

International airfares and accommodation in China will be covered by the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

Registrations welcome for all year 7 to 13, and tertiary students.
