China Centre Research Fellowships

The China Centre has a substantial research fellow programme with invited and applied research fellows from New Zealand universities and overseas universities and research institutions whose research interests and activities contribute to the Centre's mission of promoting research on contemporary China research in New Zealand. There are several different types of research fellowships.


  1. Senior Research Fellows
    Senior Research Fellows make significant contributions to the work and research programmes of the China Centre. They are the principal facilitators of the Centre's research programmes. Senior Research Fellows are by invitation only.

  2. China Centre Visiting Research Fellows
    The China Centre hosts a certain number of research fellows each year from the international community of contemporary China studies in social sciences. These fellows can be funded through the Centre's exchange agreements with its international partner universities or through fellows' own funding. These fellows usually spend one to six months in residency at the China Centre, conduct substantive research work, participate in the Centre's research activities, and contribute to the international research profile of the China Centre.

  3. Affiliated Researchers
    Affiliated Researcher are doctoral and postdoctoral researcher affiliated to the China Centre through their work. The China Centre provides a facilitating environment for doctoral and postdoctoral researcher for their learning and work, and resource sharing among universities in New Zealand and with the international community of contemporary China studies.
