Most bedrooms are standard singles. There are a limited number of economy singles and twin share rooms.

Hall Payments

Fees quoted are for 2012.

There are 38 weeks in an academic year.

The accommodation fees are payable to the hall in advance in quarterly instalments. If you do not have a New Zealand guarantor, you must pay for each trimester upfront.

Accommodation fee includes all electricity, heating and water charges.

Note: There is an extra charge for heavy use of electricity.

Facilities

• Phone in each apartment. Local, national and international calls are charged using a pre-pay system.

• uStay's wireless network provides internet access on a pre-pay basis.

• McKenzies residents access the Activities Centre on Level 1, Cumberland. This has comfortable couches and wireless internet access. There is a games area with pool tables, table tennis tables and a giant chess set. There are separate spaces with big screen SKY TV facilities, study rooms, music rooms, project work room and a gym.

• Snack and drink vending machines in communal areas.

• Communal coin-operated laundry on Level 1, Cumberland with washing machines and dryers.

• No parking available on-site.

• Residents are responsible for cleaning their own apartment bedroom and shared spaces. Common areas outside the apartments are cleaned by uStay staff.

Furniture

Basic bedroom furniture provided by the hall:

Kitchenettes in studios are also provided with:

Residents supply other kitchen equipment and bed-linen. Bedding packs are available to buy.

Sited on a major, well-lit street within five minutes walk to Te Aro campus, 10-15 minutes to Kelburn campus and 25 minutes to Pipitea campus, uStay McKenzies is ideal for residents wishing to have the convenience of the city on their doorstep.

General Information

• There are 215 residents in 65 apartments. These are on four levels around a central atrium. Each apartment has a bathroom, kitchen/living area. A few rooms have internal windows or skylights only.

• Security access system operating with swipecard access into the building.

• The uStay management team comprises the Head of Hall, a Community Manager, an Operations Manager and reception staff. There are student support staff to help provide pastoral care, academic support and social activities.

• Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.
