Helen Lowry Hall is a small, traditional hall of residence with a strong, caring community that values academic success. It provides catered accommodation for first year students and some rooms in separate houses for returning second year students who wish to self-cater.

Hall Payments
Fees quoted are for 2012.
There are 38 weeks in an academic year.
The accommodation fees are payable to the hall in advance in quarterly instalments. If you do not have a New Zealand guarantor, you must pay for each trimester upfront.
The catered accommodation fee includes all electricity, heating and water charges.

Phone with voicemail in each room with free local calls. National and international calls require a calling card.

24 hour study room and lounge with free internet.

Broadband internet connection in each room with usage at resident's own cost.

Fully equipped gym, music room, games room with a table tennis and a pool table.

Main lounge and smaller lounges with video, DVD and TV.

Dining room open 24 hours a day with hot drinks and toast provided as well as a separate kitchen for entertaining friends.

Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and shared spaces. Communal areas are cleaned by hall staff.

Location
Situated five km from Kelburn campus in suburban Karori, ten minutes from Karori campus. There is a free daytime shuttle to Kelburn campus and a public bus route is nearby.

General Information

Helen Lowry Hall is managed by Janine and Chris Arcus assisted by five Deputy Wardens, a Kaitiaki and an Office Administrator. The pastoral care team live on site and provide an extensive variety of academic support. This includes study groups, individual tutorials and general study skills seminars. The Kaitiaki is responsible for coordinating support for Maori and Pacific Island residents.
