    AProf Marjan van den Belt

    AVC (Sustainability)

    Associate Professor van den Belt is an internationally respected researcher and teacher, and sought after adviser and speaker on sustainability.

    She came to Victoria in 2016 from Massey University, where, from 2009, she was Director and Principal Ecological Economist of Ecological Economics Research New Zealand.

    Associate Professor van den Belt has a Master’s of Business Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, a PhD in Marine, Estuarine and Environmental Science and a Graduate Certificate in Ecological Economics from the University of Maryland in the United States.

    She has worked in various roles, including as a strategy advisor for a sustainability-oriented start-up hedge fund in The Netherlands, co-founding an eco-village in Vermont in the United States, and running her own research consultancy on developing (computer-aided) decision support for public private partnerships in the USA and previously, on waste minimisation and environmental management systems in Stockholm, Sweden.

    Victoria is the only university in New Zealand and one of very few internationally to have such a high-level role dedicated to sustainability as a focus across research, teaching, engagement and the running of campuses.

  • Andrew Wilks

    Andrew Wilks

    Andrew was championing sustainability at Victoria through his role as Environmental Manager in Campus Services for 10 years before joining the Sustainability Office. Andrew has a background in energy efficiency, working as an accredited Energy Auditor for Energy Solutions Ltd before joining Victoria. As a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Andrew credits Victoria for sparking his passion for sustainability.

  • Amanda Cunningham

    Amanda Cunningham

    Amanda joins the Sustainability Office from Victoria Business School where she has held various supporting roles since 2009. Amanda has a strong background in administration and has worked in the education sector for many years covering all aspects from Early Learning Centres through to University.
