A range of food is available across our campuses.

Kelburn campus

Cafés and food outlets

  • The Hunter Lounge, Student Union Building—vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available, and halal food can be prepared upon request. This is not strict halal, contact the Hunter Lounge for details.
  • Ramsey Cafe, 8 Kelburn Parade—$2 coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and $2 toasties on Thursdays & Fridays.
  • Louis’ Takeaway Cafe, Level 1, outside Kelburn Library, 7 am–4 pm—vegetarian options available.
  • Milk and Honey, Level 1, Rankine Brown Building—8 am–3.30 pm for staff and postgraduate students, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. Catering available.
  • Maki Mono, Level 2, Easterfield Building, 7.30 am–5 pm—sushi and other Japanese cuisine, including some vegetarian and gluten-free items.
  • The Lab, ground floor, The Hub, 7.30–4.30 pm—coffee, smoothies, breakfast, baking. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options available. Catering available.
  • Kim Chi Noodle Bar, ground flooor, Easterfield Building, 10 am–4 pm. Bubble tea, dumplings, noodle salad, fried rice, satay chicken and beef, rice salad bowl. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options available. Catering available.
  • Krishna Food, Kirk Building, next to the overbridge and LT301. Open 10 am–3 pm, all year round. $8 lunches available (Eftpos available). All meals are vegan.
  • Nam D—Vietnamese Street Food, the Hub—vegetarian options available.
  • Subway, ground floor, Easterfield Building, adjacent to the main Kelburn Parade entrance, 7 am–8 pm Monday-Friday, 10 am–5 pm Saturday—sandwiches, salads, wraps and drinks. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available.
  • Swimsuit Coffee, ground floor, Alan MacDiarmid Building, 7.30 am–3 pm. Coffee, scones, filled baguettes and toasties, pastries and cookies.

If you are unsure whether vegetarian or halal food is offered at a particular outlet, just ask.

Vending machines providing drinks and snacks are located around campus. There are also some zips and microwaves for heating your own food.

Pipitea campus

  • The Lab—Rutherford House. Salads, noodles and juices, vegetarian options available.

There is a New World Metro supermarket at the Railway Station. The Pipitea campus is also close to the cafés and amenities of Lambton Quay and the CBD.

Te Aro campus

Te Aro campus is close to Cuba Street, one of the main café areas in Wellington, and there are also supermarkets and convenience stores nearby.
